What is CASA?
CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. They are community volunteers who do what no one else does - they advocate solely for the best interest of children and youth in foster care.
CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children and make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened child welfare system. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives.

Our Mission
CASA of Central Oregon is a nonprofit organization that recruits, trains and supports volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the court system. CASA volunteers work within the courts in collaboration with key agencies, legal counsel and community resources to ensure that every child in foster care in Central Oregon can transition into a safe and permanent home.
I can strongly say NO child in foster care should be without a CASA… not even one child. The process that these children go through from family/life problems, state and court processes, emotional and physical challenges is incredibly saddening and even close to crazy." ~ Former Deschutes County Foster Parent
Our Program
CASA was established in Central Oregon in 1992. In 2005, Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson Counties merged establishing CASA of Central Oregon. CASA of Central Oregon is a 501(c) 3 Organization.
