CASA Volunteers
Our volunteers come from different backgrounds and all walks of life. Most are involved because they want to help children, want to give back to their community, and/or because they are interested in the legal field. See each person's reason below as to why they joined CASA. As of December 31, 2009 we had approximately 74 active volunteers donating their time including 27 new CASA graduates. If you would like to become a volunteer please visit our Volunteer Page. Thanks to each and every volunteer for your dedication, passion and leadership!

"I have learned since becoming a CASA seven years ago, that the information I provide to the court is often crucial in determining the best possible decisions on behalf of the child. The child welfare system and the court system do their best to tackle the unfortunate situations of child abuse and neglect in our communities, but they can not give the individual attention that a CASA can give to a child in order to best understand that child's needs and circumstances. Speaking up for a child in court is the most rewarding volunteer work I have ever done." |
Meriah Smith |
Meriah joined CASA in 2009. "I would like to make a difference in the lives of children who need help. While I was growing up I had the opportunity to witness my mom involved in volunteer programs and have seen first hand what a little time and compassion can do for those who need it." |
Jeeta Viera |
"I believe in the work a CASA does. A child needs a voice in court and an independent person, that is not bound by policies, to advocate for them." Jeeta joined CASA in the fall of 2007. |
