GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Development Director is responsible for establishing and cultivating new funding sources and maintaining and strengthening relationships with current donors/grantors. The Development Director is responsible for fundraising and promoting CASA of Central Oregon in the communities we serve through local media outlets, social media, the CASA website, events, publications, correspondence, community outreach and collaborative work. The Development Director reports to the Executive Director.

The Development Director is hired by the Executive Director and reports directly to the Executive Director. The Development Director is expected to give regular reports on fundraising to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human services, business, marketing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrate a history of successful fundraising experience.
- Understand donor relations and maintaining cooperative relationships.
- Be comfortable using online donor database, including entering data and generating reports.
- The ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities.
- Strong public speaking/writing skills and exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize workload quickly and accurately with few mistakes.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to family systems and child victimization.
- Reliable transportation to attend meetings with a valid license and insurance.
- Job duties, at times, may require flexible work hours outside of regular business hours or scheduled work hours.
- Comfort with Windows based systems and an ability to work independently on projects.
- A commitment to CASA's goals and mission.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Development Director is hired by the Executive Director and reports directly to the Executive Director. The Development Director is expected to give regular reports on fundraising to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for raising all unrestricted funds for CASA of Central Oregon. For FY 17-18, that means a commitment to raise $170,000.
- Assist Executive Director with grant applications and grant tracking.
- In collaboration with the Executive Director and Board’s Development Team, establish fundraising efforts through the cultivation of individual donors, corporate supporters, community partners, and foundations to develop a broad fundraising base.
- Plan and execute one major fundraising event a year as well as an annual fundraising campaign.
- Communicate with Executive Director and Board of Directors regarding their roles in fundraising efforts.
- Produce a monthly written Development Report for Executive Director and Board of Directors. Attend Board meetings as requested by the Executive Director.
- Attend Development Team meetings as scheduled by the Board’s Development Team.
- Proactively create and manage donor relations, and serve as a liaison between donors (both individuals and corporate), the Executive Director and the Board.
- Engage with donors regularly, and draft, edit and record in donor database all thank you letters and all other forms of communication.
- Seek new avenues for funding on an ongoing basis.
- Serve as team leader accountable for all special events, including annual donor appreciation event.
- Communicate with donors, advocates, organizations, businesses, etc., through social media, traditional media, newsletters, direct mailings, and email.
- Manage CASA website.
- Work with the Executive Director to produce an annual impact report.
- Closely track and administer the donor database.
- Represent the agency at community events and advocacy efforts as requested.
- Complete CASA training and office training.
- Attend all required meetings and special events.
- Participate in performance evaluations of this position as directed by the Executive Director.
- Report to the Board the accounting on all fundraising events or activities, and assist in the assessment of the success of the event or activity.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director or the Chairman of the Board.
